Vaginal rejuvenation is an umbrella term consisting of multiple surgeries women can undergo to restore or improve the vagina’s cosmetic appearance and/or function. With age and child birth, a woman’s vaginal region can become lax and lose some of the appearance and elasticity present previously. Some women are simply unhappy with the appearance of their inner or outer labia and do not like the way they look in swimsuits or tight clothing. Vaginoplasty, labiaplasty and/or clitoral hood reduction can be performed alone or combined together to improve the appearance of the outer vaginal areas as well as tighten up the inner regions. The benefits of vaginal rejuvenation include an enhanced sex life, decrease in pain, and improvement in cosmetic appearance.
Vaginal rejuvenation surgery is typically performed in an office setting and patients undergo sedation and/or local anesthesia. In most cases, surgery typically takes about one to two hours to complete. Most procedures have a recovery time of approximately two to three days, with a return to full activity in approximately four to six weeks.
