Vaginal Rejuvenation in Fort Worth

Vaginal rejuvenation, also called cosmetic vaginal surgery, aesthetic vaginal surgery, or vaginoplasty, is a cosmetic procedure used to improve the appearance of the vulvar and vaginal area. With age and child birth, a woman’s vaginal region can become lax and lose some of the appearance and elasticity present previously. Some women are simply unhappy with the appearance of their outer labia. Vaginal Rejuvenation Surgery, or “Vaginal Reconstructive Surgery”, can improve the appearance of the outer areas as well as tighten up the inner regions. Overall, this can improve your sex life, decrease pain, and improve cosmetic appearance.

Vaginal rejuvenation surgery is a fairly simple process. It is typically performed in an office setting and patients undergo sedation and local anesthesia. Patients combining their cosmetic procedure with treatment for pelvic organ prolapse will need spinal or general anesthesia, and their surgery will likely be performed at the hospital. In most cases, surgery typically takes about an hour to complete. Most procedures have a recovery time of approximately two to three days, with a return to full activity in approximately four to six weeks.

The various procedures provide a variety of benefits, such as tightening muscles and tissue in the vaginal area and removing excess skin to create a narrower diameter in the vagina. This creates a smaller, tighter opening within the vaginal canal.

Dr. Hantes has experience performing a variety of vaginal rejuvenation treatments, including:

Labiaplasty Minora (Labial Reduction)

Labiaplasty Minora is a specific type of vaginal reconstructive surgery. It removes uneven or excessive skin from the smaller interior vaginal lips. This skin can cause chronic irritation for some women because of rubbing and chafing, and it can also make sexual intercourse uncomfortable. There are also instances in which the excess skin is visible in tight clothing.

Some women experience an increase in labia size during puberty or pregnancy. This is because heightened levels of estrogen can trigger labial growth. Excess labial skin can also become a problem as a woman ages.

Labiaplasty is a simple surgey that is usually performed in the doctor’s office under local anesthetic and sedation. There are instances in which labiaplasty is performed in conjunction with pelvic organ prolapse treatment, in which case the entire procedure takes place in the hospital. In both instances, the procedure takes about an hour to perform and recovery time is approximately two to three days.

Labiaplasty Majora (Labial Reduction)

The labia majora are the outer lips of the vagina that are visible for all women. However, these lips can grow larger than normal and be visible through certain types of clothing. Enlargement can occur because of pregnancy, childbirth, or aging.

Dr. Hantes offers a safe reduction procedure that not only reduces the size of the labia majora, it does so in a way that hides any scarring associated with the operation in the crease between the inner and outer labia. The procedure is usually done in the office under local anesthetic and sedation, but in some cases a hospital visit is required. The procedure takes about an hour and recovery time is approximately two to three days.

Perineoplasty (Perineorrhahy)

A perineoplasty reduces the size and improves the appearance of the area between the vagina and rectum. This area can be damaged during episiotomies performed during childbirth, or it can be affected by skin tags, excess skin, or muscle weakening. Perineoplasty removes excess tissue and sutures the muscles closer to create a snug feeling in the area. The procedure decreases the size of the vaginal opening.

Sometimes when patients undergo what they consider vaginoplasty, it is actually a perineoplasty, though it may be advertised as the former. A true vaginoplasty tightens the entire depth of the vaginal canal, whereas perineoplasty does not. Dr. Hantes combines these two procedures to ensure the entire length of the vagina is altered. This provides noticeable results that are superior to procedures that include only one or the other alteration.

Clitoral Hood Reduction

Many women experience excess growth of skin on the sides of the clitoris. This can make the clitoris appear uneven or enlarged. This skin can be removed through a precise surgical technique that targets the surrounding tissue without damaging the nerves of the clitoris. Patients should note this procedure is NOT clitoral mutilation or un-hooding. The procedure is performed in-office and usually takes about 30 minutes
